Bachelor Shines at ICPA Awards 

Ian Ward ’19| Online Editor | Yesterday at the 2018 Indiana Collegiate Press Association (ICPA) awards banquet The Bachelor once again had a strong showing capturing 20 awards, and placing second in the “Newspaper of the Year” award for division three colleges. The accumulated awards consisted of six third place awards, seven second place awards and seven first place awards. These awards were spread out across 12 Bachelor staff members as photographers as well as writers and editors were represented in this continued excellence. Judges from across the board applauded The Bachelor’s “Original Reporting”, “Great Writing” and “Consistent Product”. Such areas where awards were captured included Best Single Issue, Best Themed Issue, Best Sports Photo, and Best Breaking News Reporting.

Overall, The Bachelor finished with 41 points in the Division Three Newspaper competition tying with Anderson University’s Andersonian and falling to Goshen College’s The Record who tallied 56 points.  This makes the third year in a row where The Bachelor has placed in the ICPA awards after winning Newspaper of the Year in 2017.
